Your Safety Matters

Why we built Luna to protect your privacy

A note from us

We created Luna because we believe tracking your period should be simple, private, and safe. We want you to understand why we made certain choices to protect you.

Why does period tracking privacy matter?

Your body, your business

Information about your period is very personal. It can tell someone a lot about your health, and sometimes even things you might not want others to know. This information belongs to you and only you.

Laws are different everywhere

In some places, information about periods and pregnancy can be used in ways that might not be fair to you. Laws about healthcare are different in every country, state, and even city. By not collecting your information, we make sure it can never be used against you, no matter where you live.

Data can be shared without asking

Some apps sell your information to other companies, or might be forced to share it with governments or courts. Even if a company promises to keep your data safe, they might change their minds later, or someone could hack into their computers.

How Luna keeps you safe

We do not know who you are

Luna never asks for your name, email, phone number, or anything that could identify you. We do not know who is using the app. Your tracker is just a random combination of words that means nothing to us.

Your data is scrambled

Before your period information leaves your phone or computer, it gets scrambled using your magic word. This is called encryption. Even if someone got into our computers, they would only see jumbled nonsense. Only you can unscramble it.

Only you have the key

Your magic word is like a secret key that only you know. We never see it or store it. Without your magic word, your data is completely unreadable. This means even we cannot look at your information, even if we wanted to.

Nothing to share

If someone ever asked us for your data, we would have nothing useful to give them. We do not know who you are, and we cannot read your encrypted information. You cannot share what you do not have.

Tips to stay safe

1

Choose a good magic word. Pick something you will remember but others cannot guess. Do not use your birthday or pet's name.

2

Keep your magic word private. Do not share it with anyone, not even your best friend. If you need to write it down, keep it somewhere very safe.

3

Use private browsing if needed. If you share a computer with others, you can use private or incognito mode in your browser.

4

Talk to someone you trust. If you ever feel unsafe or worried about your privacy, talk to a parent, guardian, school counselor, or another trusted adult.

Your privacy is not just a feature. It is a right.
